Job Description
We are seeking to hire a proactive, disciplined, and customer-focused Pool Attendant to ensure the safety, hygiene, and smooth operation of our swimming pool facility. The ideal candidate will maintain high cleanliness standards, support swimmers by providing guidance and excellent customer service, and ensure that all pool rules and safety procedures are adhered to at all times.
This role demands a responsible individual with strong observation skills, attention to detail, and the ability to respond quickly and appropriately in emergencies.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring the swimming pool area is clean, safe, and well-maintained at all times.
- Monitoring swimmers to ensure adherence to pool rules and safety standards.
- Maintaining proper pool water quality by reporting chemical levels for timely testing and treatment.
- Cleaning pool decks, surrounding areas, loungers, washrooms, and changing rooms.
- Assisting guests respectfully, including providing floaters, towels, and necessary pool items.
- Ensuring all pool equipment is well-kept and reporting damaged or malfunctioning equipment immediately.
- Supporting in controlling access to the pool and ensuring only authorized guests use the facility.
- Promptly responding to emergencies and reporting incidents to the supervisor.
- Offering excellent customer service and ensuring guests enjoy a safe and pleasant pool experience.
- Monitoring stock levels of cleaning supplies and pool items and reporting replenishment needs.
- Ensuring proper storage of equipment and maintaining general pool orderliness.
- Performing routine checks of the pool area, including water clarity and cleanliness.
- Working collaboratively with the facility and housekeeping teams to maintain high operational standards.
- Carrying out any other related duties assigned from time to time.
- Diploma in Hospitality, Recreation Management, Pool Operations, or a related field (mandatory).
- KCSE Certificate; additional training in pool maintenance, lifeguarding, or first aid is an added advantage.
- At least 1 year of experience in a similar role in a hotel, resort, recreational facility, or fitness center.
- Basic knowledge of pool cleaning, hygiene, and safety procedures.
- Ability to swim confidently and assist in minor emergencies.
- Knowledge of pool chemical usage and water treatment (added advantage).
- Physically fit and able to work in an outdoor environment.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- High level of cleanliness and attention to detail.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work under minimal supervision.
